About (Retired) Colonel Al Knight...

Alphonso W. Knight, Jr.

      Alphonso Knight enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1970 and after receiving his commission in 1971 served in numerous command and staff positions until retirement in 2000. Since retirement he has been involved in veteran and soldier support programs and projects such as Tacoma Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, Selection of the Reserve Soldier of the Year, Military Affairs, and State Base Realignment Coordination Committees.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rainier Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America, the Fort Lewis Retirement Council, and the Fort Lewis Military Museum.   He serves as the Washington State Military Liaison, Employee Support of the Guard and Reserve, President of the Fort Lewis Flying Club, First Vice President Fort Lewis Chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army, and Second Vice President Military Order of the World Wars. Additionally, he belongs to Tuskegee Airman International, the Air Force Association, Disabled American Veterans, the Navy League, and the Navy Submarine League.  He received a Masters of Arts in Business Management from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Missouri State University.  He is currently employed by Patriots Landing in DuPont, Washington and is responsible for providing a communications and coordination conduit between the Northwest’s newest military retirement community and numerous military posts, camps, and stations in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska.
